9/JESUS
9/3 OUR FATHER
YOUR WILL BE DONE. Jesus taught his
disciples this prayer. It is divided into two parts. The first part is about
God who is our loving father in heaven. He created us, loves us, forgives us,
and cares for us. We pray that the whole world will come to know and love him.
Our hope is that God's kingdom of peace and happiness will come which will
happen when we do his will. "Your will be done" is our way of showing
our love and reverence for our loving father. His will is that we love God, our
neighbor, and ourselves.
GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD.
The second part of this prayer is asking God for what we physically need. He
always provides us with the daily essentials for life such as food and a place
to live. He provides us with schools, hospitals, police, and those who are an
essential part in our lives. We pray that all may share in the blessings God
provides.
FORGIVE US OUR SINS. In the second
part of this prayer, we pray for our spiritual needs such as the forgiveness of
our sins and for the help to reject the many temptations we meet each day. We
ask for the strength to forgive those who offended us just as the Father
forgives us our sins. We pray for the help to resist the devil's temptation to
leave God at the end of our life. We are confident that our loving heavenly
father will always come to our aid during our time of spiritual need.
