11/JESUS
11/1 FIRST COMMAND,
ADORE GOD
THE ADORATION OF GOD IN HEAVEN. In the book of Revelation,
John the author, sees a vision of the adoration of God in heaven. God is seated
on his throne surrounded by 24 elders and four living creatures. The four
living creatures sing "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God almighty, who was,
and who is, and who is to come." The elders knell and adore God and sing
"Worthy are you, Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power, for
you created all things; because of your will, they came to be and were
created." God was praised for all his wonderful works.
FAITH AND HOPE IN GOD. Abraham had great faith in God who
commanded him to leave his home for a land that God would give him. He took his
family and possessions on a journey without doubting that God would guide him
along the way. As St. Paul approached the end of his life, he had great hope in
God when he wrote "the crown of righteousness
awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to
me." God is adored when one has faith and hope in him.
LOVE FOR GOD. On the evening before his death while eating
with his twelve disciples, Jesus praying to his father said, "I glorified
you on earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do." On that
same night while praying in the garden he said, "Father, if you are
willing, take this cup from me; still, not my will but yours be done."
Jesus showed his love for God by doing the will of his father. One adores God
by our faith, hope and love for him.
The first commandment, "I am the Lord your God, you
shall not have any other gods before me."
