11/ JESUS
11/4 RESPECT YOUR
PARENTS
JESUS RESPECTS MARY AND JOSEPH. When Jesus was twelve years
old, he went with his parents to celebrate a feast in Jerusalem. As they
prepared to return home, they could not find him. After searching for three
days, they found him in the temple with the teachers. He returned with them to
Nazareth and was obedient to them. With their loving care for him, Jesus "
Grew in wisdom and age before God and man." Jesus respected his parents,
and they were caring and loving parents.
BROTHERS AND SISTERS. Jacob had twelve sons and he loved
Joseph the most which caused his brothers to dislike him. When they were caring
for sheep, Joseph visited them and they sold him to merchants on their way to
Egypt. Joseph, who was once a slave, became the second most powerful ruler in
Egypt. In a time of severe famine, Joseph's brothers went to him asking for
food. Joseph recognized them, but they did not recognize him. Joseph not only
helped them and forgive them but invited his whole family to come and live in
Egypt. Brothers and sisters should love one another and live in peace and
harmony.
A HAPPY FAMILY. St. Paul gave the following instructions to
family members. Husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who
loves his wife loves his own body. Wives should be loving and respectful of
their husbands. Children should love and obey their parents. Fathers should
bring up their children with instructions they had from God. To live in a happy
family, parents must love each other and their children and children should
love, respect and obey their parents. We pray for a happy family.
The fourth commandment, "Honor your father and
mother."
