BASIC IDEAS
GOD
SPEAKS TO US. God speaks to us in many ways. He speaks through creation. When
we see the mountains and hills, the rivers and oceans, the trees and the
flowers, the animals and people, we see God's great works. God speaks to us
through people, our parents, teachers and friends. He speaks to us through the
Church, the pope, bishops and priests. He speaks to us through the Bible which
is our heavenly Father's letter to us. God speaks to us through our heart. The
greatest way God speaks to is through his son Jesus.
THE
STRUCTURE OF THE BIBLE. The Bible is divided into two parts. The first part is
called the Old Testament (OT) which contains all that happened before the birth
of Jesus. The second part is called the New Testament (NT) which contains all
that happened after the birth of Jesus. There are 46 books in the OT and 27
books in the NT. The total number of books in the Bible is 73 books. Some are
short and some are long.
THE
CONTENT OF THE BIBLE. The main idea is the relationship between God and man.
God loves his people and guides them in living a good and happy life. On the
other hand, man continues to disobey God and suffers for his wrong doings which
we call sin. Man asks God for forgiveness and God always forgives and continues
to help and love man. This cycle of love of disobedience and forgiveness
between God and man continues to this day. This message is told in many ways
through history, stories, proverbs, songs, gospel and letters. We must read and
study this great book to come closer to Jesus who is the source of our
happiness.
