4. JOSEPH
Joseph was one of the twelve sons of Jacob. Though his brothers sold him as a slave, he became a powerful ruler in Egypt and saved his brothers in the time of a severe famine.
JOSEPH SOLD BY HIS BROTHERS. Joseph was the favourite son of his father Jacob and for this his brothers disliked him. Joseph visited his brothers who were pastoring sheep. As they saw him coming, they decided to kill him. They changed their mind and sold him to merchants on their way to Egypt and informed Jacob that his son was killed by wild animals.
THE ATTEMPT TO SEDUCE JOSEPH. Joseph was a slave in charge of running a household for an officer of the king. The wife of the officer attempted to seduce the handsome Joseph. She became very angry at the rejection by Joseph and to take revenge she accused Joseph of trying to seduce her. As a punishment Joseph was put into prison.
JOSEPH HELPS HIS BROTHERS. In the time of severe famine, Joseph's brothers went to Egypt for food. Taken to see Joseph, they did not recognise him but he recognised them. Joseph was willing to help them on the condition that they would bring their youngest brother, Benjamin, to Egypt. They did this and Joseph revealed his identity, helped them, and consoled them by saying this was God's way to save Jacob's family.
Joseph forgave his brothers who sold him as a slave. He saved them by
providing them with food and inviting them to live in Egypt. Jesus forgives us.
