5/JESUS
5/1 GOD THE FATHER
JESUS TAUGHT US ABOUT HIS FATHER.
Jesus told his apostles that when they saw him they saw the Father. If they
knew him, they would also know the Father. He is in the Father and the Father
is in him. Jesus is the only one who can bring us to the Father. The words that
Jesus had spoken are his Father's words. In his Father's house, there are many
dwelling places which are prepared for us. As the Father has sent Jesus into
the world, Jesus sent his disciples into the world to tell the people that the
Father loves them.
JESUS TAUGHT US THE PRAYER, THE OUR
FATHER. Jesus taught us to pray the Our Father. This prayer is divided into two
parts, the first is about the Father and the second about our needs. "Our Father" becomes our adopted
father through the sacrament of baptism. "Who are in Heaven" in that
He is different from our earthly father as he is our Heavenly Father.
"Holy be your name" whereby we must praise him. "Your kingdom
come" which is a place of joy, happiness and peace. "Your will be
done on earth" which is the way for the kingdom to come. "As it is in
heaven" where all the angels and saints obey God our Father.
GOD THE FATHER CARES FOR US. Jesus
teaches us about the love and care the Father has for us. The Father even cares
for the birds of the air. The Father feeds them though they do not sow or reap
or even store up food. The Father cares for the beautiful flowers though they
themselves do not work. God takes better care of us than he does the birds and
flowers. Because of this care the Father has for us, we need not worry about
what we will eat, drink or wear. Our concern should first be about doing the
Father's will. When we obey our Father, he will give us the strength and wisdom
to care for ourselves.
