6. MOSES/2
God commanded Moses to lead the suffering Hebrews from Egypt to a land that God would give them. He obeyed God and led them through the desert.
THE CROSSING OF THE REED SEA. After the king gave Moses permission to
leave, the Hebrews departed from Egypt. Not long after, the King changed his
mind and sent his army to pursue them. When the people arrived at the Reed Sea,
God made it possible for the Hebrews to cross safely. The Egyptians with their
horse-driven chariots followed in pursuit. As their wheels got clogged in the
middle of the sea, they drowned trying to capture the Hebrews. God saved the
people from destruction.
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on Mt. Sinai.
God chose the Hebrews to be his chosen people. He would love them and care
for them. The people were to obey these instructions resulting in living a
happy and peaceful life. The first three commands were about loving God. The
last seven commands were about loving others.
THE DEATH OF MOSES. Moses led the Hebrews through the desert for forty
years. When they arrived near the promised land, God permitted Moses to view it
but not to enter it. Moses died in the land of Moab facing the promised land.
Joshua, his faithful assistant, would lead the Hebrews into the promised land.
Moses led the Hebrews from Egypt through the desert which was near the
promised land for forty years. God protected and cared for them throughout the
long and dangerous journey. God also protects us through our life.
