JESUS -1 HIS LIFE
JESUS 1/4 HIS LAST DAYS
JESUS BEFORE PILATE. Some of the
Jewish rulers who opposed Jesus planned to have him killed. They took him to
the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, and accused him of planning a revolt.
Pilate, after an investigation, found that this was not true. He decided to
release Jesus but the leaders and people opposed this decision. Pilate again
proposed to have Jesus whipped and then released but the leaders again demanded
that Jesus be crucified. Though Pilate found Jesus innocent of any wrong doing,
but feared the leaders, he had Jesus condemned to death.
THE DEATH OF JESUS. After being
whipped, Jesus was made to carry his cross to the place where he was to be
crucified. Because he was too weak to do this, he was helped by Simon, a
bystander. His hands and feet were nailed to the cross where he remained for
three hours. The leaders and the people mocked him saying that he was not able
to help himself though he was able to help others. On that Friday he died in
the afternoon at three o'clock and then was buried in a new tomb. Though
accused of being a criminal, he died an innocent person.
THE RESURRECTION OF JESUS. On Sunday
morning, three days after the death of Jesus, two women who were followers of
Jesus went to the tomb where Jesus had been buried. To their great surprise,
they found the tomb was open and empty and were informed by an angel that Jesus
had been raised from the dead. As they left to tell the disciples of the good
news, they met Jesus who told them to tell the disciples that they would meet
them in Galilee. Jesus had truly risen.
